Jupiter
Jupiter
This is the first image of Jupiter I took. This was done by holding a digital videocamera up to the eyepiece and snapping a short clip of a few seconds. The scope was my 8-inch Newtonian on the Dobsonian mount, so this was a challenge since Jupiter was moving across the eyepiece field of view pretty quickly and I had the videocamera zoomed in. The side effect was that there was some noticeable chromatic aberration between all that glass and the funny angles.
I've done very little processing, since only 16 images were usable in the final sequence due to camera (operator) shake. Very faintly, on the left of Jupiter, you can make out one of it's moons.
I have no idea what time of day I took this image.
