The double cluster in Perseus was catalogued by Hipparcos in 130 B.C. and is easily seen by the naked eye from a dark site (not from NYC!). These two star clusters are about 7,000 light-years from earth but separated by only a couple hundred light-years from each other.
This image is a composite of 63 2-minute exposures taken during the Summer Star Party in Savoy, MA. Capture was done with MaximDL as was initial processing. Final processing was done with Picture Window Pro.
